System of education

USA is one of the world’s most highly developed countries. The level of economy is growing constantly and stably. The country tends to have low unemployment and inflation level and is a world leader in technology and innovation.

Americans typically start school at the age of five, although many attend daycares and preschools at an earlier age. Americans finish the primary school (elementary school) at the age of 13-14 after which they attend high school for four years.  They generally graduate from school at the age of 18. To enter an American institute of higher education, Ukrainians are usually required to spend at least one year at a Ukrainian university or take part in a special training program called Foundation at an American college.

Attending a university in the USA will give you a modern education. There are thousands of universities in American ranging from élite institutes of higher learning such as Yale and Harvard to small, relatively obscure private schools. Statistics show that most foreigners attend the lesser-known universities.

There are more than 3,500 colleges in USA which makes it tough to choose. There are several types of colleges: Technical Colleges, Junior/Community Colleges, and also four-year study colleges that are equal to university according to the statute. The last ones may be both independent institutes of higher education and a part of university.

State colleges are partially funded by tax dollars and are administered by the state and local governments.  Each of 50 American states has at least one state university and usually several state colleges. Private colleges have independent management and are not funded by tax dollars, which is why tuition for a private education is much higher and quantity of students is lower than in state institutions.
