The city is known worldwide as the home of Oxford University, the oldest university in the English-speaking world. Buildings in Oxford demonstrate examples of every English architectural period since the arrival of the Saxons, including the mid-18th century Radcliffe Camera. Oxford is known as the “city of dreaming spires”, a term coined by the poet Matthew Arnold.

Modern Oxford has a diverse and cosmopolitan population of approx. 150,000 of which more than 25% are students. It is located almost equidistant between London and Birmingham (85 km from both) with good public transport connections.

Christ Church is a unique institution, one of the largest colleges in the University of Oxford and the Cathedral Church for the Diocese of Oxford. It has a world famous Cathedral Choir; scholarly collections of books and art; and is enjoyed by many people as visitors or guests at conferences and summer schools.

Christ Church is one of the University of Oxford’s most famous and prestigious colleges. Founded in 1524, it has a fascinating history and many distinguished people have studied here including 13 British Prime Ministers, famous writers including W.H. Auden and Lewis Carroll, and world-renowned scientists including Albert Einstein.
